The Independent Monitoring Board at HMP Brixton has today amended and reissued its 2016-17 Annual Report, in relation to comments about the Clink restaurant.
A visitor planning to eat in the restaurant was arrested in September 2016 after being found in possession of unauthorised items. The restaurant was not found to be a source of drug, phone and sim card importation. The report as issued (paragraph 4.10) conflated two issues – this arrest and the fact that sources for importation of illegal items were established. The Board has formally apologised to the Clink charity for any reputational damage this may have caused.
